Main Job Purpose:
The cost accountant will be responsible for managing the end-to-end process of inventory from the point of receiving to the issue and consumption of the product. This role will be responsible for calculating the finished product cost and accounting for the cost of all items sold, both produced and bought. Additionally, the role is responsible for accounting for promotions and highlighting the margin impact of any discounting offers. The incumbent works closely with the production and logistics teams and the operations team, spending most of their time in these locations.

Key Accountabilities:
Inventory Movement Management:
Reviewing the process of receiving and dispatching inventories and ensuring all items received from suppliers are recorded in the system.
Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine the costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
Ensuring that inventories dispatched for consumption are accounted for in the system.
Coordinating monthly inventory stock counts at all locations.
Preparing and sharing with management stock reports indicating risks of short expiries or out-of-stock (OOS) items.
Product Costing and Pricing:
Reviewing existing recipes and costing materials to arrive at ideal standard costs.
Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to determine their effects on cost.
Making estimates of new and proposed product costs.
Analyzing spending variances and efficiency variances.
Analyzing distribution, inventory, manpower, manufacturing, and marketing costs.
Reviewing standard costs quarterly and updating when necessary.
Working with the financial analyst and marketing team to cost promotions and arrive at the ideal promotional price.
Cost of Sales Accounting:
Driving and posting the cost of finished products sold.
Calculating and posting packaging and other non-raw material inventory costs.
Reviewing and accounting for wastage/throwaway at all locations, and providing commentary on its drivers.
Costing the overall production, stores, and warehouse operations and ensuring these costs are correctly accounted for in the P&L.
Controls and Discipline:
Ensuring all material inventories are fully accounted for.
Costing all promotional items and highlighting the margin impact of discounts offered.
Monitoring production consumption to ensure set recipes are followed.
Monitoring and reporting wastage in production, ensuring it is accounted for in the monthly P&L.
Conducting random inventory counts.
Skills and Behaviors Required:

Experience Required:
Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
Proven technical ability in the F&B/QSR business.
Experience with accounting systems, POS systems, and cost and inventory systems.
Strong understanding of accounting standards.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with both financial and non-financial management.
Strong commercial acumen.
