Description
We are looking for Chief Accountant to manage and oversee accounting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, supervising accounting activities, maintaining proper controls and reconciliations, supporting budgeting and cash-flow management, and coordinating with management, auditors, banks, and other relevant parties.
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within contracting, construction, engineering, trading, manufacturing, or multi-company environments.
- Strong experience in general accounting, financial reporting, month-end/year-end closing, and account reconciliations.
- Solid knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, accruals, provisions, and cash/bank reconciliations.
- Experience preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts and financial statements.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and project accounting, including job/project cost monitoring where applicable.
- Experience with budgeting, cash-flow monitoring, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Ability to supervise accounting staff and review their work to ensure accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and accounting policies.
- Experience dealing with external auditors, banks, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of Kuwait accounting and regulatory requirements, preferably with experience in a Kuwait-based company.
- Strong ERP/accounting system experience, with preference for candidates who have worked with established ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Previous experience in a group or multi-company environment would be preferred.
- Experience in restructuring accounting processes and improving financial controls would be an added advantage.
- Preferred Qualifications: Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent would be an advantage.
