Job Description: General Accountant
Company Overview
Genius United General Trading & Contracting Company is a dynamic enterprise operating across both the commercial trading and industrial construction technology sectors. We specialize in delivering high-quality infrastructure, building construction projects, and specialized trading solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Accountant to manage our dual-nature financial operations, ensuring tight cost controls, accurate project reporting, and strict regulatory compliance.
Position Objective
The Accountant will oversee daily financial transactions, manage accounts payable/receivable, maintain the general ledger, and handle month-end closing procedures. Crucially, this role involves tracking and analyzing financial metrics for specific construction projects (job costing) alongside supplier accounting for our trading division.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project & Construction Accounting (Contracting Division)
Job Costing: Allocate material, labor, and equipment expenses to their respective project codes to ensure accurate job profitability tracking.
Progress Billings: Prepare and submit progressive client invoices based on project milestones, percentage-of-completion calculations, and variations.
Subcontractor Management: Review subcontractor contracts, verify completion certificates, track retention payables, and process payments.
Budget Variance Analysis: Monitor actual project expenditures against initial bid estimates, flagging cost overruns to Project Managers. 
Vendor & Customer Ledgers: Maintain precise accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) records for local and international trade partners.
3. General Ledger & Financial Reporting
Financial Statements: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss statements, and Cash Flow reports.
Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations, cash position updates, and inter-company ledger adjustments.
Closings & Audits: Execute month-end and year-end closing processes and prepare detailed schedules and documentation for external auditors.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Experience
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with preferred exposure to a dual trading and construction/contracting environment.

Technical & Soft Skills
Software: proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Tally, QuickBooks) and specialized construction management/accounting modules.
MS Excel: Advanced skills required (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling for cash flow forecasting). 
Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills to interpret complex datasets and identify spending anomalies.
Communication: Ability to collaborate seamlessly with on-site Project Managers, procurement teams, and corporate executives.
Working Conditions
Type: Full-time, On-site position.
Primary Location: Corporate Office, Faheel, Kuwait.
Environment: Fast-paced, requiring the ability to manage strict reporting deadlines and balance priorities between the trading and contracting divisions.
