Position Open: Project Superintendent

Job Type: Full-time
Assignment: Site-based; on site at all times during the work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage subcontractors and coordinate day-to-day production on site.
- Keep work on schedule; track progress against the critical path schedule and look-ahead plans.
- Provide progress for the monthly schedule update and for recovery schedules, with the scheduler.
- Plan manpower, equipment and materials; follow up procurement and long-lead deliveries; arrange material storage.
- Build to approved construction drawings, shop drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Follow up, update and coordinate project submittals and transmittals with the CQC team.
- Raise Requests for Information (RFIs) on drawing and specification conflicts and follow them to closure.
- Coordinate the three-phase quality control inspections (preparatory, initial, follow-up) with the CQC team and Government quality assurance.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning with QC, manufacturers and test agencies.
- Enforce the approved safety plan; review, sign and implement Activity Hazard Analyses.
- Enforce environmental protection, housekeeping and waste disposal.
- Attend preconstruction, partnering, quality control, preparatory and safety meetings.
- Arrange base access: personnel and vehicle passes, escorts and site security rules.
- Plan and request utility outages, dig permits and hot work permits with the Government.
- Coordinate inspections and approvals with Kuwaiti authorities where required, such as the fire and utility authorities.
- Prepare daily production reports.
- Take the weekly progress photographs and prepare the monthly progress reports.
- Manage the monthly invoice and its supporting documents.
- Record changed and extra work, delays and their causes, as support for modifications and requests for equitable adjustment.
- Keep the as-built red-line drawings current.
- Run punch lists, pre-final and final inspections, and close-out (O&M manuals, warranties, training of Government personnel).

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
- At least 10 years of construction experience.
- At least 5 years as superintendent on projects valued at US$50 million or more.
- Familiar with EM 385-1-1, with experience in hazard identification and safety compliance.
- Able to interpret a critical path schedule and construction drawings.
- Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English.
- Familiar with the requirements of submittal procedures.

SKILL QUALIFICATIONS:

- Able to read Primavera P6 or MS Project schedules and prepare three-week look-ahead plans.
- Coordination of civil, structural, mechanical and electrical works on building projects.
- Competent in Excel, Word and email; clear daily reports in English.
- Competent in AutoCAD.

OTHER ADVANTAGEOUS QUALIFICATIONS (BUT NOT REQUIRED):

- Experience on USACE or other U.S. Government construction projects.
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety card.
- Working knowledge of Arabic.
- Already in Kuwait with a transferable residency; able to join immediately.

COMPENSATION:

- Salary: KD 1,000 monthly (negotiable).
- Benefits: Company-issued vehicle, fuel allowance, housing allowance, communication allowance, paid annual vacation leave (eligible after 9 months).
